Siegfried Mackowsky born in Dresden November 25, 1878, died in Dresden February 17, 1941.He was student of the Dresden Art Academy under R. Müller, E. Bantzer, E. Bracht and G. Kuehl. He was co-founder of artist group "1913". His paintings and woodcuts, mostly landscapes, mountains, and town views are known for their fine moody expression and exquisite color.

This attractive view of Zurich shows the city with the surrounding hills and fields. The Limat river already had two bridges in the 16th Century and is shown with decorative boats. The most important churches and public buildings are shown in location. Notice that Zurich was a walled city. Two spectators in the lower right in contempory dress look at the city. The name of the city is in the upper center, the coat of arms on the left and the title cartouche in the upper right. Verso: Text in Latin.

Print has overall light toning and the margins are somewhat dirty. There is a repaired tear of 1.5 cm in lower margin on the center fold. There are two tiny repaire holes near centerfold and a foxing spot left of title cartouche. Overall condition is otherwise Very good.
