"The Clove - Caryophyllus aromaticus" Copper etching from “Curious Herbal" London, 1737 - 1739. Orginal hand coloring. This originally by Samuel Harding published work was re-published and augmented by Christoph Jacob Trew, a Nuremberg physician and pharmacist beginning in 1747 and ending in 1773. The copper etching of the here offered clove was printed and published ca. 1760 in Nuremberg, Germany. in Trew's “Herbarium Blackwellianume emendatum et auctum". Blackwell's and Trew's work accounts for a very precise and valuable botanic work. Overall pleasant age toning. Very good, fresh original hand coloring. Only minmal traces of age.
