Turkish: Kiz kulesi (Tower of a girl) in the Üsküdar district on the Asian side of Istambul.The (European) name derives from an antique myth according to which Leander swam every day to his lover Hero across the Hellispont (Dardanelles). When the torch, giving him orientation, became extinct, he drowned. When Hero found her lover dead on the beach she killed herself also by drowning.

The Leander tower was used as stage for a sequence of the James Bond film “The World is not enough".

The Valide Mosque is seen in the distance. Also a proud sailship and several sail boats.

The aquatint had several tears which have all been expertly restored, so that, from the front, hardly any former damage is traceable. Clean and superb original hand coloring.
