No titles. Four of the famous superbly hand-colored copper etchings of the maenads, engraved after the wall frescoes in “Cicero's Villa" in Pompei. They are copper etchings by Philippo Morghen after the drawings by Camillo Paderni. Published in “Le Antichità di Ercolano", Naples, 1760, a fabulous work depicting the excavations of Herculaneum and Pompei. The etchings themselves bear no title. But the accompanying text names the subject matter as the discoverers saw the frescoes at the time of excavation. They also gave the frescoes the name of the assumed villa they were found in. In this case “Cicero's Villa".
