Enchanting view of the Gulf of Pozzuoli, the earthquake-ridden city still in its architectural splendor with the remnants of the Temple of Serapis in the foreground. Cicero's villa “Accademia" on the hillside on the right. Some of the pillars of an antique three-miles-bridge from Pozzuoli to Baia Ponte di Caligula) still visible in the gulf. Baia in the distance. Monte Nuovo, a mountain grown within 48 hours of a vulcanic eruption clearly recognizable as a vulcanic cone.

The etching had suffered some damage , especially in the margins. It has been expertly restored and laid down on heavier paper without any loss to the desired patina which is a mark of distinction!

rich harvest of southern fruit, is a homage by Hoefnagel to his friend Abraham Ortelius. A lovely landscape,
enticing youto take the next plane for a vacation at the Bay of Pozzuoli. Verso: Text in Latin.
